1.  Each student will be able to use the 3 step process  in  decision making to formulate a responsible decision.

2.  Each student will become aware that they are unique and feel good about it.

3.  Each student will learn the consequences of nicotine and tobacco products on their body.
1.  Each student will develop an awareness of how tobacco advertisers manipulate advertisements to try and entice people to smoke.   

2. Explain how media influences thoughts, feelings, and health behaviors.

3.  Each student will be able to create an anti smoking advertisement that utilizes 2 common advertising techniques.

4.  Each student will identify positive and negative ways to cope with stress.
 
1.  Each student will develop appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

2.  Each student will develop assertiveness skills.

3.  Each student will understand puberty and how it effects their body.

4.  Each student will be able to discuss common social skills needed in the 5th grade.

3.  Each student will be able to produce their own anti smoking or anti drinking advertisement using common advertising techniques discussed in class.

1.  Each student will be able to discuss the value of preparation as a method of reducing performance anxiety.

2.  Each student will be able to discuss techniques for controlling anger.

3.  Each student will be able to describe verbal and non-verbal cues that indicate when someone is actively listening.

4.  Each student will be able to name the five most common STD's and how to prevent infection.

5.  Each student will be able to discuss methods to prevent the spread of STD's.
