Downloadable Audio Books
The Flood Brook Union School Library offers downloadable audio to our patrons through Listen Up! Vermont. This is a Vermont consortium of public and school libraries who has contracted with the audiobook vendor Overdrive, the selected digital audio content vendor for Vermont and New Hampshire.
Here’s how it works. . .
Go to www.listenupvermont.org and read the Quick Start Guide. It's only one page and will answer most of your questions.
You will need your library card number to download items. If you do not have a library card, contact the FBUS Library at 824-6811 x109 or email Librarian Darcy Perry at dperry@fbus.org
1. Search for your title, or just click on a category. Any that say "add to basket" are available.
2. You can download two (2) items on your card and have them for seven (7) days.
3. Before you can download you will need to download a free program called Overdrive Media Console (Quick Start Guide). This program downloads and plays the item on your computer. You will also need to have Windows Media Player installed. Read Quick Start because there is some important information on this device before you can use it.
Download your books! Overdrive Card ad4. Read over the licensing. Some audio books you may burn to a CD; some you may only transfer to an mp3 player.
5. Overdrive is compatible with many devices and has limited titles now compatible with iPods and Macs.
6. There are over 500 titles now and new titles are added every month. Some titles are always available, but most are only available for one checkout and may be reserved. If the one you want is not available, place a hold on it, and you will be emailed when the item is returned (virtually, that is!)
Please contact the FBUS Library with any questions, or to sign up for a library card.
